Hi all!
While driving home from the UP last month, Chef put a call out on Instagram for recommendations for food between Flint and the Mackinac Bridge. Below is an (ample) list of places worth stopping for…
The Torch, in Flint on Buckham alley. Their burgers fuckin’ do it for me -Amy
Any Big John’s Steak and Onion joint. I’ll stop at Highway Brewing in West Branch occasionally. Solid brewery food. -Brett
Blondie’s. Flint. -Christie
Halo Burger for sure 😂 -Old Time Hawkey, and another vote from Joe.
Haven’t been yet, but heard good things about Old World Pizzeria in Saginaw -Kevin, and a second vote from Kris.
I’ve heard the Maple Grille in Hemlock is great but haven’t been. All local ingredients, some grown by themselves. -Kevin
Maru Sushi in Midland. -Molly
Mussel Beach Drive Inn, Bay City. -Nick
Turkey Roost🤣 (Kawkawlin) - Matt
Cops and Doughnuts in Clare -Lenny
Wilson Cheese Shoppe, Pinconning. -Stevie G
Iva’s Chicken Dinners in Sterling-Grant
Beechwood Cafe in Roscommon. Always a nice stop when we are headed home to Escanaba for a family holiday. - Louis
Mimi and Pipis in Grayling -Leslie
Gates Au Sable Lodge - David
Spike’s Keg o Nails in Grayling. Great burger and onion rings. Fun atmosphere. The bakery in town is a good throwback. - Howard
Pearl’s New Orleans Kitchen in Elk Rapids is solid. And down the street is an artwalk that goes in and out of the woods and on to the beach. It’s definitely worth the stop. The art park is a bit hidden just to give a heads up. And if you go all the way across the bridge, up to Brimley in Whitefish Bay. There’s a spot called Pickles that is also worth it. - Nate
Gobblers of Waters for turkey dinners. - Michael
Bennethums Northern Inn in Gaylord gets votes Nicole and Josh.
Snowbelt Brewery in Gaylord. Vivio’s Pizza in Indian River. -Tiffany
MI Vallarta Taqueria in Gaylord. -Christine
The Farmer’s Table in Wolverine! -Brody. (And also a vote from Tara who said, “the Farmer’s Table in Wolverine is right off 75 and the only place in Otsego or Cheboygan county worth getting breakfast at”).
I know Petoskey is probably too much of a detour, but you could come check out Leto’s! -Gregory
Dam Site Inn. -Jennifer & Justin
Douglas Lake Bar & Steakhouse in Pellston- Paddy
